
The Academic Council of the I. Abdraimov Kyrgyz Aviation Institute is the highest elected representative body that carries out the general management of the university.
Regulations on the Academic Council
Purpose of the Academic Council
- 1determination of current and prospective activities,
- 2uniting the efforts of the management, academic staff and educational support personnel to train specialists,
- 3coordination of educational, teaching, research and upbringing activities.
Powers of the Academic Council
- 1considers amendments and additions to the Charter;
- 2defines the strategy and concept of development;
- 3considers internal regulations and other local acts;
- 4resolves issues of changes in the organizational structure; approves the procedure for establishment and operation, composition and powers of the council of a structural unit;
- 5determines the terms and procedure for the election of the Director, the procedure for nominating candidates for the office of Director and the requirements for them;
- 6considers and hears reports on the holding of competitive elections to fill the positions of teaching staff, heads of departments and heads of other educational and scientific units in accordance with the established procedure;
- 7decides to submit a recommendation to the Director on the extension of the terms of office of deputy directors and heads of departments;
- 8considers cases of nomination of academic and teaching staff for state awards and conferring of titles;
- 9decides on the appointment of scholarships established by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and state scholarships for students and postgraduate students;
- 10approves, in accordance with the existing state educational standards, qualification characteristics, working curricula and schedules of the educational process, the list of elective subjects, and determines the procedure for approval of academic discipline programmes, individual curricula for postgraduate students, doctoral candidates, applicants, as well as individual training plans for masters and the procedure for monitoring their implementation;
- 11considers issues of organising and optimising the educational process, introducing effective and innovative teaching technologies into the educational process;
- 12approves regulations on current monitoring of academic performance and interim attestation of students;
- 13considers opportunities to organise training under primary and additional professional education programmes submitted for licensing;
- 14supervises preparation for comprehensive evaluation of activities, licensing and accreditation of individual educational programmes, and oversees compliance of educational activities with the licence and the Charter;
- 15conducts annual approval of admission rules for applicants and annually reviews the report on the work of the admissions committee;
- 16approves regulations on the procedure for forming thematic plans and reporting of R&D;
- 17decides on the evaluation of the effectiveness of scientifically organised activities of research and educational units and on the advisability of their development based on such evaluation;
- 18considers cases of academic staff, postgraduate and doctoral students, applicants for academic degrees and provides recommendations to specialised councils for dissertation defence;
- 19hears annual reports on the main issues of organisation of educational, scientific and economic activities;
- 20determines main directions of research and practical work, and the allocation of financial and labour resources;
- 21gives consent to leasing property objects and land plots;
- 22determines the procedure for establishing and operating a Board of Trustees and other councils, their composition and powers;
- 23considers preparation and publication of textbooks, manuals and monographs;
- 24approves curricula;
- 25approves symbols (requisites);
- 26considers other matters related to the activities of the Aviation Institute.
Composition of the Academic Council
The Academic Council consists of the Director, who is its Chairman, deputy directors, as well as heads of the structural subdivisions of the Aviation Institute.
