On 30 September 2021 students and staff of KAI commemorated the heroes of the Great Patriotic War — On 30 September 2021, fourth-year students of the secondary vocational education department, civil aviation veteran and museum head Tleukhor Izembekovna Boshumova, and lecturers Zamira Madanbekovna Nurkulova and Dmitry Viktorovich Bobylev took part in a rally dedicated to the unveiling of monuments to Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot Ismailbek Taranchiev and air gunner Alexei Tkachev in the village of Besh-Küngöy, Alamüdün district.

Event

At the unveiling by the Ismailbek Taranchiev school pupils, teachers and local residents gathered; representatives of the regional and district administrations, the Ministry of Defence, veterans' organisations, the Embassy of the Russian Federation, the airbase in Kant and relatives of the pilot addressed the audience.

    Birth of Ismailbek Taranchiev — Ismailbek Taranchiev was born in 1923 in the village of Besh-Küngöy.

    Enlistment — In 1941 he joined the Red Army and trained at an aviation school.

    Combat service — He took part in combat operations from January 1944.
  • 18 March 1944
    Feats — Junior Lieutenant Taranchiev I. in the assault on 18 March 1944 directed his burning aircraft into a formation of enemy tanks; in the final sortie Junior Sergeant Tkachev A. died alongside him.

Alexei Tkachev was born in the village of Shuklino, Smolensk region.

KAI representatives

On behalf of the Kyrgyz Aviation Institute named after I. Abdraimov, Tleukhor Izembekovna presented the event organisers with an honorary certificate and books on Kyrgyz aviators.

Outcomes
Guests laid flowers at the monument and military salutes were fired in memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
