On 25 May a delegation from Siberian Federal University visited the Kyrgyz Aviation Institute named after I. Abdraimov to agree the institutions' cooperation.

Visit and delegation

At the beginning of the meeting the guests — Denis Sergeevich Guts, Vice‑Rector for Academic Affairs of Siberian Federal University; Anna Eduardovna Mezit, Head of the Department for International Cooperation; Jyrgalbek Abdybekovich Usupbaev, Director of Career Guidance at SFU in Kyrgyzstan; and Almazbek Amanbekovich Sharshenbaev, founder of the SFU Alumni Association in Kyrgyzstan — were shown the museum of Ishembai Abdraimov, the lecture halls of the Department of Flight‑Technical Operation of Aircraft and Transport Systems Management, the aviation safety laboratory and the conference hall named after Ivan Serafimovich Nazarov.

Tour of the institute

The Institute Director, Ulan Esembekovich Kurmanov, acquainted the delegation with the institute's history, spoke about plans to open a master’s programme in 2022, cooperation with Russian universities and about education reforms in Kyrgyzstan.

Research activities and laboratories

The director expressed a wish to place a "special emphasis on research, to stimulate the development of investigations", since the institute has 4 applied laboratories:

Denis Sergeevich supported the proposal: “Science knows no borders”.

He spoke about the SFU design bureau, which develops unmanned aerial vehicles based on public‑private partnership, and noted that the university has 36 dissertation councils.

The SFU Vice‑Rector, speaking about the university, highlighted the institution's leading positions in international and Russian rankings.

Cooperation and exchange programmes

Representatives of the Institute and Siberian Federal University discussed cooperation on student exchange programmes 2+2 or 1+1 for obtaining double degrees, study in master’s programmes, the possibility for Kyrgyz applicants to enter the Russian university, for which the institute has an online testing centre.

Head of the Department of Natural Sciences Zhyrgal Kuseinovna Ismailova drew attention to the possibility of experience exchange and professional development for teachers, for example, in the Russian language.

The director noted that Russian is one of the five working languages of ICAO.

Anna Eduardovna proposed to add a detailed plan of work and events to the cooperation agreement.

Denis Sergeevich said that graduates from Kyrgyzstan, compared with students from some foreign countries, are more inclined to work in their homeland.

Jyrgalbek Abdybekovich spoke about where SFU graduates from Kyrgyzstan work and about the Association's task to consolidate SFU alumni.

Ulan Esembekovich said: “In the age of globalization one cannot close off. The whole world strives for integration. In any case, EAEU members have a unified educational space and a single labour market”.
