On the eve of 9 May — Victory Day, students and staff of the Kyrgyz Aviation Institute named after I. Abdraimov honoured the memory of aviators who took part in the Great Patriotic War.

Event proceedings

Institute leaders laid flowers at the monuments to Ишембая Абдраимова, Тимура Фрунзе and Абдували Курманалиева.

Director Ulan Esembekovich Kurmanov spoke to students about the feats of aviators from Kyrgyzstan at the front and in the training of military pilots. The museum head, Tleukhor Izembekovna Boshumova, urged students not to forget history.

Cultural programme

Students performed musical numbers; the concert also included poems by World War II veteran Sooronbay Zhusuev and the song «Smuglyanka».
