On 15 December 2021, the Kyrgyz Aviation Institute held a conference dedicated to the Day of National Literature. — The conference featured invited speakers: the journalist and literary scholar Pamirbek Kazybaev and the poet, head of the "Kyrgyz Language" society and publisher of the newspaper "Til jana madaniyat", Raimzhan Kurbanov.

About the event

As the Day of National Literature is observed on 12 December to commemorate the birth of Chingiz Aitmatov and the death of Alykul Osmonov, the honoured guests spoke about their lives and the special significance of their work in culture.

Speeches and facts

Pamirbek Shomorovich, speaking on Alykul Osmonov, drew attention to the poet's verses about the airplane and the pilot, Hero of the Soviet Union A. I. Pokryshkin, and shared the news that he had proposed translating A. Osmonov's poems into Hungarian.

As a researcher of A. Osmonov's work and the keeper of the poet's museum, Pamirbek Kazybaev invited students to visit A. Osmonov's house-museum in Bishkek. From Kazybaev's remarks, students learned that the translator of Ch. Aitmatov's works into Kyrgyz, Ashym Jakypbekov, had proposed that his novel "Teñiri Manas" be translated into Russian by Chingiz Torokulovich.

Raimzhan Rakhmanovich began with a story that he wrote poems related to aviation already in the 6th grade for the school wall newspaper. Assuming that the institute's graduates would fly to different parts of the world, he noted that in many countries Ch. Aitmatov's work is treated with great attention and respect.

For example, Kurbanov R. R. astonished the French with a dramatic recitation of the epilogue of the novella "Jamila" from memory, after which they applauded him for 5–10 minutes. Moreover, among the 600–700 French attendees at that literary meeting, the impression formed that Kyrgyz people know all of Ch. Aitmatov's works and can recite fragments.

Raimzhan Rakhmanovich urged students to read the epic "Manas", works by Ch. Aitmatov and A. Osmonov. For the youth audience, Kurbanov R. R. read poems about love, student life and the Kyrgyz language.

Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Sydykbaeva M. M., as an Aitmatov scholar, said that Chingiz Torokulovich attached special importance to the novel "The Clytemnestra of Cassandra" ("Tavro Kassandry"), dividing his work into periods before and after this piece. Mira Mederkulovna noted that just as one remembers the multiplication table for life, so some literary works should be learned and known.

Students performed musical numbers, recited poems and monologues of literary and film characters.
