On November 25, Samara University launched the international "Winter University for Engineering Sciences" - a two-week educational program within the framework of the national project "Youth and Children". The program ended on December 7 and brought together students from different countries who studied aerospace systems engineering and unmanned vehicle design. The participants combined lectures with practical training in laboratories, worked in international teams and familiarized themselves with the culture of Samara and the region.
Marlen Maksatovich Sarlykov, a student of the Kyrgyz Aviation Institute named after I. Abdraimov, became one of the program participants. He told about his impressions and noted that he came to Samara for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the scale of the university.
Marlen emphasized the importance of participation in the program: "Participation in the Winter University gives a lot of opportunities for personal and professional development. This is a unique chance to see a real international engineering environment, learn from experts and exchange knowledge with students from different countries," he noted.
As part of the program, Marlen's team of eight worked on two projects. The first is the development of a light show concept using 500 drones, which should perform synchronized maneuvers in the city center. The second project aims to create a drone for the Ministry of Emergency Situations, capable of taking off quickly during floods, surveying the area and transmitting data to analyze the situation. Despite the limited time for the practical part, the team actively worked on the theoretical component.
"The idea was suggested to us by our teachers, but we work out the details of the project and improvements ourselves. Everyone in the team has a role: someone searches for information, someone calculates, programs or makes a presentation. I do the calculations of the drone's characteristics - its size, range and flight altitude - and advise on how to improve the device".
The student also shared an amusing moment: one of the participants agreed to join the team only on the condition that his comrade would work with him. According to Marlen, this added lightness and humor to the team-building atmosphere.
